Roadplan for Marketing Survey Tool

The Release Candidate for MST 1.2 line has been released, which means the 1.2 line is officially feature frozen...
So let's start a wish list for the 1.3 line now :-D (Updated: New version will be renamed to 2.0)

  • the most important thing to do is to rethink, redesign and recode the administration panel. I have no problems with it, but some people complained about the difficult and not user friendly AP. Some confused ones reports me EBKAC's (Error Between Keyboard And Chair also known as AEOC errors - Application Exceeds Operator Capability errors), so there is a real need for change. Please post/send me your pet peeves in AP, so that I can correct it.
  • IP-blocking (not sure if needed, since I introduced support for closed surveys already)
  • Add branching logic for num questions
  • Add "end of survey" to branching logic - actually you can do everything you want without this feature but this feature could spare few unnecessary queries in some occasions.
  • Enhance advanced branching logic for matrix questions and by missing conditions

As you see the biggest changes to be expected in the next versions will be in the AP and in the branching logic. Nevertheless I'm still open for your suggestions.

Updated (30.05.2005):
The changes alredy (partly) codded in the current development versions include:

  • Posibility to create and display special pages (customized error messages, info pages)
  • User management for AP (multiple users for the same installation with different permitions)
  • Session based access to AP. Removed special versions for CGI and API
  • Posibility to lock item/question which shouldn't be rotated in a random question/block
  • Validation of survey structure to avoid common mistakes
  • Posibility to force advanced logic before the survey end
  • Posibility to use different database type for survey and userbase
  • and few other minor changes

Moreover I started to prepare system for including the sending of invitations to users into MST code, but I'm not sure this feature will make it into version 2.0

Ability to set language for every survey

Hi!
Nice tool, going to use it for my research!
However, since I would like to be able to have suveys in different languages on the same installation of the surveys, it would be great if I could specify what languagefile every servey should use.

track form drop out

A method for tracking where a participant drops out of form completion. This is for locating where form may be altered for higher completion rates.

email invitation

The ability to import email addresses from separate database (e.g. Access) and then send out personalised invitations with UNIQUE link to survey.

With this ability it could be possible to send out reminders and make a defection analysis. Further more it will solve the problem of multiple respondents using the same computer (in this case validation with IP number and cookies fail.)

User back button

When a respondent is taking the survey, they often need a specific reminder to tell them, that they can go back a question if they thought of a better answer. Could such a user button be displayed?

Quiz type

Make an option to run a quiz with grading capabilities, I dont know if this would be simple to do off the current project or is something that should be createdfrom scratch.

Data evaluation

This excellent script lacks a very important feature: A simple way to display the data. You do not need to display columns etc. Just percentages.

Data Output

I would love further control over the data output. For instance, I'd like to see the data file include user login, time started, time finished, and total time for the entire survey (not just each individual question).

selective user picking

EG: If you have a database full of members... and you want a survey to be completed by ladies born between 1975 and 1984. Only those people will get an email with an invitation.
This selective picking can also be done with other criteria...

And it would also be great if there's an option that will close the survey when the maximum amount of surveys are filled out...

POST or GET to start at a certain question

The survey link includes GET parameters or the survey is launched with POST hidden fields which start the survey on a given question based on the info.

Ie. if someone buys 1 item but removed two from a shopping cart, they might get a certain part of a survey.
